The United Wa State Army will hold a meeting open to senior members on October 8, Saturday, in Pangshang at their headquarters, according to an official of the same group.
UWSA leaders will explain during the meeting to their own troops and the residents of the Wa controlled territory, the terms that they had offered the Burmese government last October 1st in the meeting in Lashio, the capital of northern Shan state.
With both sides desiring to reach a compromise that would end hostilities bringing stability to the long dispute in the border region, the historical conflict between UWSA forces and the Burma regime has recently improved.
Cadres and UWSA military members will be allowed to voice ideas and give suggestions after the explanation of the terms of their proposed changes given last Saturday.
Listening to the civilian and military inputs will allow UWSA officials to address the needs to be implemented for the good of all.
Increased government resources and monetary support were some of the terms asked by the UWSA from the government officials last October 1st. Wa official Xiao Minliang assured the government officials that the UWSA does not wish to secede and desires to progress towards peace in the Shan state. The foregoing news is sourced from SHAN.
