Myanmar wants to develop its ICT sector as leaders are optimistic in obtaining the much needed skills, knowledge and proficiency for the development of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in their country with the help and assistance of neighbouring ASEAN countries, a Malaysian news agency, Bernama reported.
Though the projects for the telecommunication had started, Myanmar is undertaking heavy load of projects to uplift and boost their teledensity from 6 per cent to 50 per cent in the year 2015, said Thein Tun, the Minister of Communications, Posts and Telegraphs.
Aside from improving the quality and condition of other telecommunication related issues they are also preparing an extensive program to produce and enhance their own wireless broadband with the assistance and cooperation of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), said Thein Tun in Bernama report.
Myanmar government is also coming up with a more systematic governance and they are very thankful to some ASEAN countries that are more familiar on carrying out the task in the most effective and efficient way and trying to extend utmost support for the government. The government is very open to reach out for help in order that they can come up with a successful operation on their government system, he said.
With the Minister of communications at the helm, during the opening of the 11th Telecommunication and Information Technology conference, he conspicuously emphasized that ASEAN can stand out as the best and ideal place for putting up telecommunications and can become the Information Communication Technology centre among other nearby countries.
The Minister even stressed that although other countries in Asia are enjoying the accessibility of internet other ASEAN counterparts have not yet succeeded in obtaining the latest development on telecommunications.
That’s the very reason why he is appealing to other influential and powerful broadband network to produce innovative services and ground breaking technology that are accessible to rural areas and give equal and favourable opportunity to all citizenry.
