The ethnic rebel group reported last Thursday that the Myanmar army are fully prepared and in position to stage a major attack against them although the new government has made real hard effort to put a stop on the violence and atrocities in that area.
According to an officer of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) who doesn’t revealed his true identity said that approximately 2,000 government forces were seen in northern town of Laiza, a known concentrated area for Kachin rebel group. It is expected that conflicts and fighting will turn this place into a warzone since the army was seen with large number of artilleries with them, news report from AFP said.
The rebel groups have 3,000 in numbers. At certain point, the government of Myanmar has come up with peace negotiations involving the army and various ethnic groups as part of the reforms initiated by the government and believing that this reform will determine the Western Union and other countries’ standpoint on easing various sanctions. The call to stop military attacks on these ethnic territories was issued by President Thein Sein on January, AFP news reported.
Conflicts in Kachin state was rekindled after the ceasefire for 17 years was unfortunately broken the very reason why these groups are fuming with anger however this would greatly have an effect on the restoration of national peace and the progression of democracy.
The minister of immigration who has been doing mostly the peace negotiation process in the person of Mr. Khin Yi said that though the orders come from President Thein Sein it is obviously not executed in the far flung areas and war zone parts since the message did not reach the concerned people.
This time since the conflict cannot be contained anymore and both parties have different sentiments on the issues then peace would probably take a backseat meaning that peace process would hardly worked out. Innocent people who are victims of this war are forced to evacuate to any place they thought would keep them safe.
As expected other nations has openly denounced this occurrence. People are seeking for support and assistance specifically for their basic needs like food, shelter, clothing, and medical aid.
Seldom that the state media divulge details on the operations of the army but the New Light of Myanmar has done reporting on the incidents. Report has it that the KIA has allegedly killed a toddler and hitting civilian in their encounter but officers of Kachin say that there’s no truth to the report, and the government is just using this as their frontline to carry out their mission to attack.
At present, President Thein Sein has totally replaced the government negotiating panels with the appointment of Sai Mouk Kham, the vice president of Myanmar who belongs to Shan ethnic group, Win Min said. But this move made by the president has doubted its true objective and purpose.
