President meets with 14 political parties

President Thein Sein of Myanmar has addressed strongly the 14 political parties in a meeting held in Nay Pyi Taw last Saturday to support his action and advocacy towards the three point objective of the government for political stability, achieving peace with the armed ethnic groups and socio-economic development for the country.

The government cannot perform this task alone in implementing the stability of the country most especially in the armed ethnic territories without the help and support of this various political leaders thus their cooperation is highly important, said news report from Xinhua.

Like for instance the peace treaty has been executed from among the 10 ethnic armed groups and improvements have been attained while the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) in northern Kachin state has never come up with terms and provisions on peace treaty with the government.

On issue regarding the socio-economic development there is a need to boost the employment system in the country. Establishing more jobs for the people must be encouraged to eliminate the poverty level which comprises of 26% of the populace. Because of minimal employment opportunities and finding themselves in difficult situation, most of the citizens find their way to work abroad in a fight for survival, Xinhua news reported.

The opening of foreign investment upon the invitation of President Thein Sein and its government will surely create an atmosphere of adequate livelihood which can uplift the lives of the people.

The assistance of international countries thru loans and grants which will be invested and implemented in various projects, the creation of medium and small industries, and the establishment of IT and telecommunications in the country is considered a big step towards the progress and development of the nation.

The political parties which participated in the meeting with the President were Myanmar National Congress Party, Modern People’s Party, Mon Democracy Party, Diversity and Peace Party, Pa-O National League, Zomi League for Democracy, Chin Progressive Party, National Political Alliance League, National Democracy Party, Shan Nationalities League for Democracy, Rakhine League for Democracy, National Unity Party, Kayin People’s Party and National Democracy Party.

He further emphasized that if the government and these political parties would join forces and work together in partnership, the goal towards nation building, political stability and the desire for peace will be successfully achieved, the report said.
