Suu Kyi Myanmar’s democratic icon was chosen to spearhead the chairmanship of a committee under the new parliament last Tuesday entitled “Rule of Law and Tranquillity” whose main function is to monitor and help in the implementation of the rule of law under the new government, Associated Press news reported.
Aung San Suu Kyi who joined in the recent April by- election successfully won together with her party and took a seat in the parliament. Her committee comprises of 15 lawmakers from Rakhine state and Kachin states with five lawmakers each respectively and also included are ethnic areas which have been involved in various hostilities.
Suukyi’s top three major objectives are first, to put an end to all ethnic minority conflicts. Secondly to ensure the restoration of peace and stability all over the country and lastly to amend the constitution of the country, the report said.
