UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova met Myanmar President Thein Sein in Nay Pyi Taw Tuesday. Ms Bokova who is on an official visit in Myanmar promised to extend help and support the government in its move to develop and improved the country, enhance the educational system and the promotion of peace and stability in the country.
She further added that they will also be supporting the education sector by advocating vocational training and guidance, strengthen sanitation management support, intensify cultural cooperation and to boost the preservation of Myanmar’s Bagan region and cultural zones and other Pyu cultural heritages, Xinhua news reported.
Moreover she also mentioned to help the media industry which plays a significant role in the transition process towards achieving democracy and the restoration of peace and order and recognizing their valuable contribution and participation towards nation building.
She believes that the UNESCO has taken its toll in full support of the recent implementation of reforms particular in the conduct of peace process and other vital changes in the country, the report said.
