Finally, the parliament in Myanmar has announced the appointment of Vice Admiral Nyan Tun aged 58 as one of the country’s two Vice President who will serve the country after weeks of guessing games on who will fill up the vacant position left by Tin Aung Myint Oo who tendered his resignation last month due to health problems, Associated Press news reported.

Vice Admiral Nyan Tun was selected and voted upon by military lawmakers who comprises 25% of the legislature and they have every right to determine who will take the vital position in the government.

His appointment was made during a legislative meeting in capital, Naypyitaw by National Assembly speaker Khin Aung Myint.

Nyan Tun swore his oath of office right after the parliament session. Prior to his new position as vice president, he was the naval commander since 2008. He was also with the military intelligence in year 1980 and hold different post in the navy, the report said.

The other Vice President is Sai Mauk Hkam who comes from Shan ethnic minority. These two Vice Presidents share the same power as vested in the constitution of the country.
