According to Foreign Minister Surapong Tohvichakchaikul, an official visit to Myanmar is scheduled next month for Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra of Thailand to pursue the joint project on the deep sea port. She will meet with President Thein Sein during her two day visit, The Nation news reported.
The Memorandum of Understanding between Thailand and Myanmar was signed by President Thein Sein when he visited Bangkok last July.
Both the President and the Prime Minister Surapong will focus their discussion on the joint project which is the development of the Dawei deep sea port and the plan to connect Dawei to Thailand’s Laem Chabang deep sea port.
The three Memorandum of Understanding confirms the commitment and cooperation of both countries not only in the development of southern Myanmar but its connectivity with the Eastern Seaboard of Thailand. This will also highlight the importance of foreign investment in the country in which the country’s goal for development, expansion and progress is underway, news report from The Nation said.
